Boss Angeles

Your article serves not only as a reminder of a time gone by, but also of just how talented many of these deejays were.
The creation of the “Boss Jock” and “Boss Radio” was formulated by Bill Drake, who was responsible for what KHJ sounded like when it was the greatest radio station in the country. What happened at KHJ caused a tidal wave of clones all over the United States, and soon “Boss Radio” was everywhere.
Drake believed that personality was vital in radio, and he made it his job to find the best announcers on the air in any city, so that when his next station signed on, he had a lineup in his head. It was not an easy job. There are only so many originals, and so many great voices. It seems that KHJ was blessed with some of the best talent ever in radio.
Oh, by the way, Sam Riddle is now the producer of “Star Search”! I thought some readers might like to know that.
