EL MONTE : Agency Restores Salary of Suspended Director
- Share via
Directors of an El Monte-based social service agency have voted to restore the salary of the suspended executive director, pending the outcome of a county audit into possible misuse of funds.
Douglas L. Shaw, 50, who heads the Mid-Valley Manpower Consortium, was suspended last week without pay after a preliminary audit revealed possible misspending of up to $100,000 in credit card expenditures and program funds. The agency, with an annual budget of about $3 million, receives federal money via Los Angeles County for job training programs in the San Gabriel Valley.
In a special meeting Thursday, the Mid-Valley board of directors unanimously voted to restore Shaw’s $63,000 annual salary in the interests of fairness, they said. The audit is expected to be completed within a month. Meanwhile, the board directed that Mid-Valley’s two credit cards, used exclusively by Mid-Valley administrators, be canceled.
