CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : INDEPENDENCE : Navy Jet Crashes but Pilot Escapes

A Navy F-18 jet from Lemoore Naval Air Station crashed in the foothills of the Inyo Mountains five miles southeast of Independence. The pilot, who was not identified, ejected before the crash. He was taken by helicopter to Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine complaining of neck pains.
