PREP BASEBALL : Esperanza, Edison Set for the Second Round

Esperanza and Edison, two top Orange County baseball teams, will play today in the second round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs at Edison.
Esperanza (21-5), which finished the season as the No. 1-ranked team in the county, beat Alhambra, 12-4, in the first round. The Aztecs are scheduled to start Mark Herlehy (8-1) today.
Edison (21-5), which was ranked sixth in the county, beat Dana Hills, 5-4, in 11 innings in the first round. The Chargers are expected to start Todd Belitz (5-1).
The winner will play the Glendale-Hesperia winner.
In Division III, Woodbridge will play at La Quinta in a game featuring two of the county’s top 10 teams.
Woodbridge (24-4), which was ranked fifth in the county, defeated Chaffey, 3-2. The Warriors are expected to start Chris Talbott (6-1).
La Quinta (22-5), which was ranked eighth in the county, beat Santa Fe Springs St. Paul, 4-2. The Aztecs are expected to start Jim Livernois (11-2).
Sixteen county teams will play in 14 second-round games today.
