PICO-UNION : Community Service Center Opens Doors

The Pico-Union Multi-Service Center, a one-stop resource center offering information and assistance, opened last week at 1107 S. Alvarado, Suite 111.
The center was set up with the assistance of Councilman Mike Hernandez and his staff using donated office space and furniture. Representatives from Hernandez’s office, city departments such as Building and Safety and Public Works, and police officers from the Rampart Division will be meet with residents, answer questions and take reports.
The center will be run by volunteers who will offer information on and referrals to community organizations and social service agencies. It will also be used for community meetings and workshops.
The center’s hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
