Yucaipa Wins Division IV Baseball Title

John Shoffeitt was two for three with three runs batted in to lead Yucaipa to a 5-3 victory over Sunkist League rival Norte Vista in the Southern Section Division IV final Tuesday at the Riverside Sports Complex.

It was Yucaipa’s second title, the other coming in 1991.

Shoffeitt, a junior, hit a two-out single to right field to drive in Everett Hamner and J.P. Thomas in the third inning and give the Thunderbirds a 5-1 lead.

The Braves scored in the fifth and sixth innings.

Yucaipa (24-7) finished the season 3-1 against Notre Vista (24-4).
