Chris Axelgard has resigned as the Glendale High baseball coach to devote time to teaching and pursuing his administration credential.
Axelgard, 34, led the Dynamiters to a 12-11 record last season, including an upset of two-time defending champion Millikan in the first round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs. He said that victory is the most memorable accomplishment of his tenure.
“If you have to pick one time, I don’t see how you could pick anything else besides that,” he said.
Glendale made the playoffs in five of his six seasons. “That’s what I’m most proud of,” he said.
Axelgard, a health teacher at Glendale, has applied to USC and Cal Lutheran to get his administration credential. He said he decided at the end of last season that this would be his last.
