A local youth athletic league has received a $100,000 boost from Los Angeles County special funds.
County Supervisor Deane Dana allocated the money to the Rowland Youth Athlete League at Carolyn Rosas Park from the county’s Community Development Block Grant fund.
It is Dana’s second $100,000 allocation to the multi-sports organization, started last summer by the supervisor and the local sheriff’s station.
More than 200 youths participate in the league. In addition to sports activities, it provides assistance with homework, with the help of Rowland Heights High School student tutors.
