Glendale : $60,000 in Jewelry Stolen

Police are seeking a robber who took two diamond rings, valued at $59,800, from a jewelry shop in the Glendale Galleria earlier this week, officials said.
The man, who identified himself as “Jonathan” and had a British accent, posed as a customer Monday morning at Bailey Banks and Biddle, according to a police report.
He spent 20 to 25 minutes inside the shop and told employees he wanted to see its largest diamonds because he was going back to Britain to get married. A store manager then showed the robber a 2.26-carat diamond ring worth $25,000 and a 3.01-carat diamond ring worth $34,800.
The man held the 2.26 carat stone in one hand and grabbed the other from the manager’s finger before leaving the store, police said. He was last seen exiting the mall and entering the Galleria parking structure.
Witnesses said he was wearing sunglasses, a double-breasted suit and a cap labeled with the rock band’s name U2.
