Salmonella Strikes Taco Bell Patrons: At least 11 customers of a restaurant in suburban Syracuse, N.Y., were stricken, local medical director Dr. David Brittain said. He said test results confirmed the salmonella link. At least three people were hospitalized, officials said, and more than 100 people were being tested. The Mexican-style fast-food chain is owned by Pepsico Inc. “This is an isolated incident,” said Janis Smith, a spokeswoman for Irvine-based Taco Bell. “We have no reports from other Taco Bell restaurants.”
