Home Shopping Network’s Request to Be Considered: The Federal Communications Commission is expected to vote Thursday on whether to grant special status to the television channel, requiring that it be carried by most of the country’s 11,000 cable TV systems. Home shopping channels were denied such protection under new cable TV regulations that went into effect earlier this year. HSN then petitioned the FCC for a special exemption.
