Valley High Jumper Stewart Signs With CSUN

Jennifer Stewart of Valley College, runner-up in the women’s high jump in the state junior college track and field championships in May, has signed a letter of intent with Cal State Northridge.
Stewart also considered Fresno State, Cal State Long Beach and San Diego State.
As a Valley freshman in 1991, Stewart won the state title in the high jump and finished sixth in the javelin. She began 1992 by improving her personal best in the javelin to 154 feet 10 inches, but suffered a season-ending knee injury. She has a personal best of 5-8 in the high jump.
Baseball
Four Marmonte League high school baseball coaches will hold a camp July 26-30 in Camarillo for players ages 7 to 17. Simi Valley’s Mike Scyphers, Thousand Oaks’ Jim Hansen, Westlake’s Rich Herrera and Camarillo’s Jack Willard will conduct the camp.

Auto Racing
The stock car program scheduled for next Saturday at Ventura Raceway has been canceled because of a conflict with a dance that night on the grandstand stage. Also, the July 17 races have been rescheduled for July 16.
Basketball
Lisa Ziegler, 31, is expected to receive reappointment as the Moorpark College women’s basketball coach when the Ventura County Community College District meets Tuesday, according to John Keever, Moorpark’s athletic coordinator.
Ziegler took over the team last August when Tina Garcea resigned the position. Last year the Raiders finished fourth in the Northern Division of the Western State Conference and 11-18 overall.
