Bias Suit Names Southland Restaurants: Five San Diego African-Americans--including a Navy officer and a Democratic Party official--have filed a $10-million discrimination lawsuit against two Southern California Denny’s. Employees at the restaurants in Costa Mesa and San Diego referred inquiries to Denny’s headquarters in Spartanburg, S.C., but officials were unavailable for comment. The charges, filed in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, are the first aimed at the Denny’s chain in Southern California. But lawyers for six black Secret Service agents, who filed suit against Denny’s resulting from an April incident in Annapolis, Md., said they have filed in federal court more than 50 new allegations of bias against Denny’s in a dozen states.
