Burlington Air Express: The Irvine freight delivery company, a subsidiary of Pittston Co., reported an $8 million pretax operating profit for the second quarter, up from $2.9 million for the same quarter last year. Revenue rose 9% to $240.3 million. Burlington’s operating profit for the first half totaled $9.5 million, compared to $1.7 million for the comparable six months last year. First-half revenue was up 12%.
