CAMARILLO : Memorial Service Today for Coach
- Share via
Parents of children on the Pleasant Valley Swim Team in Camarillo have organized a memorial service today for John Scurlock, the team’s coach who was killed in an automobile accident Sunday.
The service will be held at 5 p.m. in the auditorium at the Camarillo Community Center, 1605 E. Burnley St., said Terry Fairchild, the swim team’s publicity director.
Fairchild said the service, which will include tributes from swimmers and Scurlock’s fellow lifeguards in Ventura, will be open to everyone who knew the 28-year-old coach.
Scurlock, a Ventura resident, died early Sunday when his car crashed into a semi-trailer parked near Telegraph Road and Petit Avenue in Ventura.
In addition to coaching the Camarillo swim team the past three years, Scurlock also worked as a lifeguard in Ventura.
