Public Restrooms
I read, with interest, your story (Sept. 29) about the attention finally being paid to the necessity of providing public restrooms. At one time every service station provided such facilities.
Now, with the advent of the convenience store/gas station, it is difficult to find a restroom when you need one. I think it should be required that the oil companies furnish and maintain restrooms that meet government standards before being issued a business license to sell their gasoline.

Your timely story needs a sequel on toilets below the street--in the Metro Rail subway. Isn’t Metro Rail a public convenience? Toilets are an extension of this public service function.
