Boeing Co. said third-quarter profit declined 45% from a year ago, due in part to a slowdown in commercial jet production.
Earnings came to $189 million, or 56 cents a share, compared to $345 million, or $1.02 a share, in the third quarter of 1992.
Sales fell 25% to $5.15 billion, from $6.9 billion.
The results reflect “lower commercial jet transport production rates and the timing and model mix of commercial deliveries,” the company said.
Boeing said it expects that fourth-quarter sales and earnings will be well above the third quarter’s.
