An Oxnard man has been sentenced to two years and nine months in federal prison for robbing a Camarillo bank in May.
James Louis Dawson, 28, was sentenced after pleading guilty to the May 11 robbery of Ventura County National Bank at 502 Las Posas Road.
A second robbery charge, involving the May 4 holdup at the First State Bank of the Oaks at 470 Arneill Road, Camarillo, was dismissed in light of the plea.
Charlie J. Parsons, special agent in charge of the Los Angeles FBI office, said Dawson was arrested shortly after the National Bank robbery by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies, who spotted his getaway vehicle.
A subsequent investigation linked Dawson to the Bank of the Oaks robbery, Parsons said.
Dawson pleaded guilty to the National Bank robbery July 26. He was sentenced in Los Angeles by U. S. District Judge James M. Ideman.
