OXNARD : Residents Want Old Bus Route Restored
- Share via
Oxnard beachfront residents dependent on bus service will ask county officials Friday to reinstate a South Coast Area Transit bus route that was discontinued four months ago.
A group of residents will present the Ventura County Transportation Commission with a petition signed by 476 residents and businesses asking the panel to restore the route serving Hollywood Beach and Silver Strand.
Low ridership and dwindling fare receipts prompted the bus system to discontinue the 18-year-old service in July.
But residents argue that the service is essential because many schoolchildren and elderly residents depend on the bus as a primary method of transportation.
