A man arrested in connection with at least two Orange County bank robberies has been identified as the suspect in a Simi Valley bank robbery, the FBI said Tuesday.
Robert Alan Demko, 29, is suspected of committing a series of robberies while visiting Southern California, said FBI Special Agent Steve Berry.
Demko, who lives in the Seattle area, was arrested in Santa Ana on Oct. 28 after the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Anaheim, Berry said.
Demko’s habit of first asking the bank teller for coin wrappers before demanding money led FBI agents in Los Angeles to link him to the Oct. 26 robbery of the Bank of A. Levy in Simi Valley, FBI Special Agent Gary Auer said.
“This guy stuck to a very set routine,” Auer said. “I guess if you have something that works, there’s no sense in changing it.”
With the aid of the Simi Valley Police Department, Ventura FBI agents determined that Demko had recently visited his parents, who live in Simi Valley.
Demko is scheduled to be indicted Nov. 16 in Los Angeles.
