Putting It All Together on USC-UCLA Coverage

Regarding the Nov. 6 letter:
It doesn’t feel so good to have the shoe fit on the other side, does it? Not weeks, but for years USC was always featured in the front pages, headlines splashed with articles and many photos of USC; whereas UCLA, if at all mentioned, was way inside.
Answer to your question, “Are the Bruins getting more than their share?” It’s about time.

Congratulations to reader Mark Ferris of La Crescenta. After his complaint of the Trojans not receiving equal coverage in the “UCLA Times,” I pick up Thursday’s paper only to find a picture of his Trojans on the front page of the sports section. Thursday’s coverage: Trojans 1, Bruins 0. How can you not say that this newspaper isn’t printed over at Exposition Boulevard? Although the picture shows Jeff Burris of Notre Dame burning the Trojans on a fake punt, hey, a picture is a picture. Actually, this picture is worth a thousand words.

There’s some nice creativity going on over at Earl Gustkey’s desk. Two weeks ago, the headline read, “Trojans Put It All Together Against Cal,” followed by last week’s stunning, “Trojans Put It Together Against Stanford.”
Can’t wait to read what earth-shattering headline Earl comes up with this week when the Trojans take on Washington.

Editor’s note: Earl Gustkey does not write the headlines on his stories.
