OUTLOOK
The Aztecs have won consecutive league titles. They are 19-1 in league play over the past two seasons. They have won 18 consecutive league games, and there’s plenty of talent to extend those streaks. Thimgan was an all-league selection as a sophomore and was the league’s MVP last season. He averaged 14 points and shot 56% from the field. Thimgan has range, as he made 47% of his three-point shots. The Aztecs are not a one-man show. Lawson has been a starter the past two seasons. He’s a solid player who will muscle people. Greer, who was on the varsity as a freshman, could be one of the top sophomores in the county. “I think he’s going to be one of the best big men in Southern California,” Hill said. “When it’s all said and done, he will be the best player to come out of Esperanza. He will hold all the scoring and rebounding records.” Greer’s best effort was a nine-rebound game against Valencia last season. “He didn’t get a lot of playing time, but he wasn’t intimidated when he got in there,” Hill said. Johnson was the MVP of the junior varsity.
