OUTLOOK
Mulligan believes this is her strongest team yet, and the South Coast League’s coaches seem to agree, most picking the Tritons to challenge Capistrano Valley and Mater Dei for the title. “We have a good team, and we’ll be right up there in the county but so will Mater Dei and Capistrano Valley,” Mulligan said. Macintyre, a first-team Times’ All-Orange County pick who averaged 18 points, five rebounds and five assists last season, will again be the main scoring threat, but Mulligan said the improvement of the rest of the team will help take some of the burden off the senior guard. A key for the Tritons is how well other players can shoot after Macintyre penetrates and passes the ball out to them. Besides Macintyre, seven other players received significant playing time last season. Geminert, a surprise late bloomer, gives them an inside scoring threat and will probably start with four guards. Shawna Waldner and Lee have been on the varsity three years. Alicia Waldner and Lawrence add depth at guard.
