Fares Slashed by Northwest: The carrier said it is cutting fares by up to 45%. The sale begins today, and tickets must be bought by next Tuesday. The discounts apply to travel from Jan. 18 through April 15 in the 50 states, Canada and most Caribbean destinations. Tickets must be bought at least 14 days before travel, require a Saturday night stay and are non-refundable. Sample sale fares include a round trip between Los Angeles and New York for $338, Los Angeles and Minneapolis for $318 and Memphis and Detroit for $202.
