World Sales of Independent Films Off Slightly: Independent film companies generated $1.3 billion in sales in the international marketplace for the licensing of English language films in the year ended June 30, an American Film Marketing Assn. survey showed. The figure is down slightly from $1.3 billion in gross revenue earned in the previous fiscal year, but nonetheless was the second highest in the association’s 14-year history. Revenue from cinemas in Europe and Asia were strong, but sales to video, pay and broadcast television fell slightly.
