GIRLS’ BASKETBALL : La Quinta Wins Game Marked by Ejections

Three players were ejected in the final seconds of La Quinta’s 60-34 victory over Garden Grove in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Wednesday.
Garden Grove’s Michol Murray (22 points), La Quinta’s Linda Rodriguez (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Thyana Nguyen were ejected with 29 seconds left after getting involved in a shoving match between Garden Grove’s Amanda Hall (three points) and Wendy Brannan (11 points).
La Quinta (10-4, 4-0 in league) won with a strong defensive effort; Murray was the only Argonaut with more than three points. Garden Grove is 3-10, 1-3.
In another Garden Grove League game:
Los Amigos 48, Santiago 39--Carmela Zavala’s 17 points and eight rebounds led Los Amigos (1-12, 1-3). Cari Remmel scored 18 for Santiago.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 56, Santa Margarita 34--Genevieve Evarts scored 21 points for No. 8 Newport (4-0 in league).
Tustin 51, University 39--Katie Scheuerman’s 18 points led Tustin (11-5, 3-1). Jennifer Stanley scored 13 for University.
Corona del Mar 70, Saddleback 51--Lindsay Warmington’s 20 points paced the Sea Kings (8-6, 2-2).
