Suicide Victim’s Body Found Off Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The body of a 26-year-old man was found floating just offshore Saturday, about a dozen blocks north of the city pier, authorities said.
The body of Harish Gupta of Irvine was discovered by a group of surfers when it floated near the shore at 17th Street about 2:45 p.m., Lt. Jeff Cope said. Gupta had been reported missing Jan. 7, when a suicide note was found in a jacket left in his car, parked near the pier.
“The man was dead and appeared to have been that way for several days,” Cope said.
Authorities said there no evidence of foul play in the man’s death, which was being treated as a suicide.
