Disaster Aid Centers These FEMA application centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until further notice. Those who have suffered losses may obtain local, state and federal assistance by visiting the center nearest them. Such assistance will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Programs are being offered to cover earthquake losses to homes, personal property, and businesses not covered by insurance or other aid programs.

GTE is waving basic monthly charges for 90 days for quake victims and is also providing boxes and bags for storage purposes at Red Cross shelter locations. In addition, GTE is offering a variety of free services to quake victims, including remote call forwarding, voice mail and transfer of service to a new location.
