The Washington Redskins completed an agreement to buy all the land needed for a 78,600-seat football stadium to be built halfway between Washington and Baltimore.
Redskin owner Jack Kent Cooke said he signed an agreement with Joe De Francis, principal owner of the Laurel and Pimlico racetracks in Maryland, to purchase 100 acres now part of the Laurel facility.

The Green Bay Packers named Ted Thompson as director of pro personnel. Thompson, who had been the pro personnel department’s assistant director for the past two years, succeeds Jesse Kaye.
