Comic Relief Was Neither

Comic Relief VI may have been a financial success, but in our view it was a cultural disaster (“Comic Relief Sets Record of $6 Million,” Jan. 17). It is unfortunate that the way to raise money for a worthy cause is by portraying obscene, sophomoric comments about human body parts and functions as “comedy.” Comic Relief offered little that was clever or funny. Billy Crystal and Robin Williams have more to offer us than their sponsorship of embarrassing and self-degrading performances.
