Traffic: Appeal for Beverly Hills to Chip In
- Share via
Now that travel through the Westside has been further complicated by the loss of a portion of the Santa Monica Freeway for the next six months or more, it is to be hoped that the city of Beverly Hills will do its part by making transit easier on Santa Monica and, especially, Olympic boulevards. There is a traffic signal at practically every intersection, so poorly timed as to create a ridiculous stop-and-go situation even at 3 a.m.! At least between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., the lights at minor cross streets should be taken out of service. And at other times, if possible, the lights should be set up so that they turn red only if a car tries to cross the boulevard.
I know the citizens of Beverly Hills prefer us mere peons going around their city, but in circumstances under which everyone in Southern California is being asked to make little sacrifices, shouldn’t they do their share?
