A two-alarm fire raced through a strip mall Saturday night, gutting five stores and causing about $1 million in damage, fire officials said.
Fire Department officials are still investigating the cause of the 11:40 p.m. blaze at the shopping center in the 1600 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue. No one was reported injured.
Twenty firefighters from Fullerton, Anaheim and Orange worked for more than an hour to control the blaze, which destroyed two restaurants, a boot store, a jewelry boutique and a beauty supply shop.
Six other stores and a supermarket in the strip mall were spared, fire officials said.
