ANAHEIM — Matt Cavanaugh has resigned as boys’ basketball coach at Western, Athletic Director Jim Howell said Tuesday. Howell said Cavanaugh, who coached two seasons, wasn’t happy with the team’s record.
Western made the Southern Section playoffs as a third-place team last year and finished with a 16-9 record. The Pioneers tied for fifth in the Orange League this year and were 11-14. Cavanaugh resigned last week.
