SAN GABRIEL VALLEY : 30-Hour Fast Raises Hunger-Relief Funds
- Share via
More than 3,000 people in the San Gabriel Valley area participated last week in World Vision’s annual “30-Hour Famine,” an international hunger education program.
In a symbolic gesture, groups from Pasadena Covenant Church and Duarte High School fasted for 30 hours Friday and Saturday and accepted pledge contributions for each hour they went without food. Last year, a million teen-agers worldwide raised more than $15 million for hunger programs.
During the fast, some groups arranged sleep-overs with hunger education programs or with food service at homeless shelters.
