Drawings by two Irvine students appear in the Metropolitan Water District’s 1994 “Water Is Life” calendar.
Both students’ drawings, selected from hundreds of submissions, deal with the importance of water conservation. Lisa Wright, a fourth-grader at Santiago Hills Elementary School, has her work on the March page of the calendar. Turtle Rock Elementary School sixth-grader Quang Vang’s artwork appears in the calendar’s introduction.
The Metropolitan Water District selected a total of 23 drawings for the calendar. Students from Ventura to San Diego submitted materials.
“I think it’s something to have two winners from Irvine,” said Marilyn Fisher, community education coordinator for the Irvine Ranch Water District, which passed along Wright and Vang’s drawings to the MWD.
