Foreman, who took over for Ron Pruter, has begun his new job by essentially cleaning house. He cut four of eight seniors, and has chosen to build with juniors and sophomores. “I’m starting a three-year plan to gain experience for the next year,” Foreman said. “We’re promoting a positive attitude. The attitude has been down here for so long. I’ll be satisfied if we go .500 this season.” Foreman plans to build around his pitching, which will be led by Rutherford. “He was on the wild side last year, but we’ve worked on his mechanics,” Foreman said. “He’s developed two new pitches and he’s more positive.” Elsaesser will be the No. 2 pitcher and Contreras, a junior varsity catcher last season, will be No. 3. “(Elsaesser) was strictly a fastball pitcher last year, but now he has a slider and a split,” Foreman said. “(Contreras) loves it. He’s throwing smoke. He’s 6-4 and has a cannon.” While Los Amigos’ pitching might be strong, the Lobos’ offensive attack figures to be shaky. “We’ll bunt and run because we’ve got speed, but pitching will keep us in the ball game,” Foreman said. “Hoover and Bustos are the only power we’ve got.”
