Prices and mortgage rates may be soft, but it still takes a hefty income to buy a home in Ventura County.
The median household income of home buyers in the county last year was $66,700, according to a study by Chicago Title and Trust Co.
The figure was the second highest among Southern California counties. The highest was $77,500 in Orange County. Three-quarters of the buying families in Ventura County had two incomes, Chicago Title reported.
It took first-time buyers more than four years to save up their down payments.
