BURBANK : Council Considering Health Club Ordinance
- Share via
The Burbank City Council tonight will consider regulating health clubs with an ordinance requiring at least a $75,000 bond to ensure that membership fees can be returned if a club closes.
Checking the backgrounds of club owners is another element of the ordinance under consideration. If approved, the new ordinance would go into effect in 30 days. In the meantime, a moratorium on issuing permits for health clubs that went into effect in December would be extended.
The council is also considering a permit fee of at least $100 for clubs.
