Dumaual, from Esperanza High, picked up the nickname “Twilight” because of his recent exploits. According to Dave Schechter, sports information director, Dumaual is “in a zone.” Dumaual was seven for eight and Fullerton won both its games last week. He had three doubles, drove in three runs, scored five runs and had a stolen base. Dumaual started the week hitting .609 (14 for 23) in Orange Empire Conference play and leading the team with 19 runs scored. He was hitting .421 (24 for 57) overall in the Hornets’ first 18 games.
Other notables:
* Rob Crabtree, Cypress, pitched a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts to beat Rancho Santiago, 5-2, and stop the Dons’ 12-game winning streak.
* Jerome Valentin, Saddleback, shot a two-under 69 at Rancho Park golf course in Los Angeles to help the Gauchos to a nonconference victory.
