Environment: Fish Pond on Campus
Water (from the natural springs at University High School) can be used for a fish pond where students could go fishing (Plugging the Leak, Westside, March 13, 1994). If the water is cold enough, it could be stocked with trout. More likely, it would be necessary to use warm-water species such as bluegill.
I would volunteer to teach students something about insect life, fish habits, fly-tying and fishing courtesy. A schedule could be set up in case of overwhelming response, students could be scheduled, or fishing privileges awarded for good school performance or behavior.
Make school fun!
