COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Windmiller Finally Gives Up Hit as CSUN Sweeps Ohio State

Amy Windmiller’s streak of no-hit innings was snapped at 27, but she still pitched Cal State Northridge to a 3-1 nonconference victory over Ohio State in the second game of a softball doubleheader Tuesday at CSUN.
CSUN won the first game, 9-0.
Windmiller (9-1), who allowed a run in the fifth inning, also had streaks of 14 perfect innings and 39 scoreless innings snapped by the Buckeyes (7-8). She finished with a three-hitter, including 10 strikeouts. Junior Kathy Blake (7-2) pitched a four-hit shutout for the sixth-ranked Matadors (19-3) in the first game.
Scia Maumausolo hit a grand slam in the first game and Tamara Ivie was four for seven with three runs batted in on the day.
BASEBALL
Canyons 6, Glendale 5--Shane Petrelli scored from second on a fielder’s choice in the 10th inning of a Western State Conference game at Canyons. Petrelli was three for four, including a two-run homer. J.T. Billingslea added three hits for Canyons (9-8, 5-4).
Mike Vickers and Bryan Warner each had two hits for Glendale.
Moorpark 3, Cuesta 0--Sophomore right-hander Jeff Naster (5-1) threw a five-hitter for Moorpark (9-8-1, 4-3) in a WSC game. Moorpark scored all three runs in the eighth.
Ventura 9, Santa Barbara 3--Robert Fick was three for three with three runs to lead Ventura (11-8, 3-5) in a WSC game. David Frazier, Sam Monroy and Brandon Knight each had two hits.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
CS Northridge d. Long Beach State, 4-15, 15-9, 17-15, 15-12--Oliver Heitmann had 40 kills to lead CSUN (11-8, 7-6) in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Long Beach. Gary Reznick had 80 assists.
