Players Honored for Three-Pointers

IRVINE — UC Irvine guard Chris Brown and Cal State Fullerton guard Autumn Hollyfield were honored Wednesday with the AT&T; Long Distance Award as the nation’s most prolific three-point shooters.

Brown, who made a school- and conference-record 11 three-pointers in the Big West championship game, averaged 4.5 three-pointers for Irvine (10-20).

Brown made 98 threes during the regular season and added 24 in the Big West tournament to earn co-most valuable player honors. He had four of the top seven three-point performances in the country, hitting 11, 10 and nine twice, and averaged 41% from beyond the three-point arc.

Hollyfield averaged 4.0 three-pointers for the Titans (5-22) and shares the award with Danielle Viglione of Texas. Hollyfield made 104 of 280 three-point attempts on the season.

AT&T; will make contributions to the NCAA Degree Completion Program, which helps student-athletes who have exhausted their financial aid, in the players’ names.
