A 19-year-old man has been booked on suspicion of murder in the shooting death last week of a father as he drove his three daughters and a neighbor’s child to school, Los Angeles police said.
Phone tips from residents in the Oakwood area led to the arrest of Larry Burns of Venice, said Detective Cedric Wilder of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division. Wilder said investigators have not determined a motive in the shooting of Anselmo Cruz, 30.
Burns, wearing a ski mask, allegedly approached Cruz’s car and shot him several times as the children looked on. One child was slightly injured by a bullet fragment and the others suffered minor cuts from broken glass.
Burns is being held without bail at the Los Angeles County jail.
