Commodities Exchanges to Merge: New York’s two biggest futures exchanges, the New York Mercantile Exchange and the Commodities Exchange Inc., said their members voted to merge the two operations. The Comex, a major exchange for precious metals futures, would operate as a division of the Nymex, the largest exchange for energy futures. Both share a trading floor and other facilities in New York’s World Trade Center. The merger is subject to approval by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.
