COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Nevada Gets to Wagner and Beats Titans

Cal State Fullerton’s Matt Wagner gave up seven runs on eight hits in six innings in the Titans’ 7-2 loss to Nevada on Saturday at Titan Field.
The loss ended Wagner’s 10-game winning streak, dropping him to 10-1.
The Titans (34-10, 11-5) managed only four hits off Wolf Pack starter John Patton (5-1), who struck out six in eight innings. Reliever Jason Rogers retired the side in order for Nevada in the ninth.
Titan shortstop Jack Jones had one hit and scored a run, and right fielder Mark Kotsay doubled for the Titans’ only extra-base hit.
Center fielder Dante Powell walked, stole a base and scored the Titans’ other run.
The loss drops Cal State Fullerton out of first place in the Big West, one game behind the Wolf Pack (34-7, 11-3). The Titans host the series finale at 1 p.m. today.
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Southern California College 5-6, Concordia 3-8--Ryan Seidel was two for four with two doubles and an RBI and David Seeley was two for four with a home run for SCC (18-24, 8-9) in the first game.
Christopher Kindreich was three for four with two RBIs for Concordia (16-26-1, 5-12) in the second game.
In Big West Conference softball:
Cal State Fullerton 7-9, New Mexico State 1-0--Shannon Dolan’s grand slam in the second game led the Titans (25-25, 14-9) to the sweep at home. Dolan, a junior catcher, had three hits and drove in six runs.
