Devil His Due Favored to Repeat at Pimlico

BALTIMORE — Devil His Due is back in the Pimlico Special to defend his title against some pretty familiar company.
Devil His Due, Valley Crossing and Pistols And Roses finished 1-2-3 in the race last year, and they’re back in the six-horse field on Saturday. Devil His Due is the 7-5 favorite and will carry high weight of 121 pounds in the $600,000 Grade I race at Pimlico.
Joining them will be As Indicated, Greatsilverfleet and Gavel Gate.
Devil His Due, a 5-year-old, was second in the Oaklawn Handicap his last time out and opened the year with a victory in the Broward Handicap. He has been worse than fourth only twice in his last 10 races, and has amassed career earnings of almost $3 million.
Devil His Due, to be ridden by Wigberto Ramos, drew the No. 5 post. Greatsilverfleet and As Indicated, expected to be the early pace setters, drew one and three, respectively. Valley Crossing got two, Gavel Gate four, and Pistols And Roses will be on the outside.
