Pacific Sunwear of California: The Anaheim retailer of young men’s clothing reported a profit of $165,000, or 3 cents a share, for the first quarter of its fiscal year. That was up 21% from earnings of $136,000, or 3 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the quarter, which ended May 2, rose 43% to $15.3 million from $10.7 million. The company said the increase resulted from the opening of 39 stores since May, 1993.
