OJAI : Sewer Replacement Delayed a Week
A weeklong sewer-replacement project that was scheduled to begin this week and close the downtown portion of Ojai Avenue has been delayed, officials with the project’s contractor said.
Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Ojai Avenue will be closed between Montgomery and Ventura streets and traffic detoured around the Ojai Arcade and adjacent businesses by Matilija and Aliso streets.
The contractor, Dorfman Construction, postponed the sewer project for a week to notify businesses that deliver goods to downtown Ojai of the road closure.
“After talking with the city and the fact that Ojai Avenue is a state highway, we felt an obligation to the delivery services,” said Maurya Foy, project coordinator for Dorfman Construction.
The road is expected to be closed a week.
The excavation is part of the Ojai Valley Sanitation District’s sewer-replacement project that started in August, 1993, and is expected to be completed by June 30.
