Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Man Killed When Vehicle Hits Pole

SANTA CLARITA — A Canyon Country man died early Wednesday after he lost control of his vehicle and it slammed into a power pole, authorities said.
The 48-year-old motorist, whose name has not been released, was driving east on Vasquez Canyon Road about three miles east of Sierra Highway when the accident occurred, California Highway Patrol Officer Wendy Moore said.
The man had rounded a curve just before the 1:50 a.m. accident, Moore said.
The motorist could have been saved by a seat belt, Moore said.
