Co-workers of a Simi Valley man who lost his wife and 7-year-old son in a fire this week have established a memorial fund to pay for their funerals.
Joseph Booker, 36, was in critical but stable condition Thursday at the burn center of Sherman Oaks Community Hospital, hospital officials said.
Booker suffered third-degree burns on his arms and head as he tried to save his wife, Odette, and son, Brandon, from their burning house Tuesday.
Booker works in the mail room of Simi Valley-based clothing manufacturer Bugle Boy.
“He really needs help,” said Pam Johnson, who works in the personnel department.
Residents wishing to contribute to the fund can send checks made payable to The Joseph Booker Family Memorial Fund at Simi Valley Bank, 2455 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley, 93065.
